The twenty-first century is increasingly being defined by technology. Just as political and economic independence were the foundations of national strength, technological independence has now become an essential pillar of national sovereignty. In this rapidly evolving global landscape, nations must develop the capability to design, build, secure, and control their critical technologies.
The inauguration of Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice,France, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, represents a significant milestone in

The event showcases not only India’s technological achievements but also its growing role as a trusted partner in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
India today possesses one of the world’s most vibrant innovation ecosystems. With more than 200,000 startups operating across sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Quantum Computing, Space Technology, Biotechnology, and Deep Tech, the country has emerged as a powerhouse of innovation. Complementing this ecosystem is India’s vast talent pool, with nearly 1.5 million engineering graduates entering the workforce every year.
The significance of these collaborations extends beyond economic growth. In an era where technology influences national security, economic competitiveness, and societal development, every nation must work toward strengthening its technological sovereignty. Dependence on external platforms, critical technologies, or digital infrastructure can create strategic vulnerabilities. Therefore, countries must invest in developing indigenous capabilities and trusted innovation ecosystems.
This vision aligns closely with the broader objectives of Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India). Self-reliance today is not limited to manufacturing or supply chains; Building domestic capabilities in these sectors is essential for ensuring long-term national resilience and competitiveness.
India’s contribution to the world, however, goes beyond self-reliance. The country is uniquely positioned to deliver cutting-edge technologies at costs that are affordable for the Global South. Whether in digital public infrastructure, space missions, healthcare technologies, or emerging innovations, India is developing solutions that are both technologically advanced and economically accessible.
National Technology Sovereignty is therefore not a vision for one country alone. It is a global imperative. By fostering innovation, strengthening research collaborations, nurturing talent, and building indigenous technological capabilities, nations can secure their future while contributing to a more resilient, inclusive, and technologically empowered world.
